This document sets out the Scottish Health Equity Research Unit’s (SHERU’s) key research interests in relation to the socioeconomic factors driving health inequalities in Scotland. It is intended for academic researchers, policy professionals, data specialists, and others working to understand and address the structural causes of health inequality. Drawing inspiration from the UK government’s Areas of Research Interest (ARI) approach, it aims to support more effective collaboration between research and policy by identifying shared priorities, highlighting key questions, and signalling where new evidence and insights are most needed.
